Don’t Ignore These Air Conditioner Maintenance Tasks
Reliant Heating and Air Conditioning • February 24, 2025

Your air conditioner works hard to relieve the scorching summer heat. With regular air conditioner maintenance, we can help your AC function even better for many more years.

Here are a few air conditioner maintenance tasks our team of professionals can provide:

  • Clean or replace air filters. The air filter traps dirt, dust, and other particles from entering the air conditioner. Over time, the air filter can get clogged and reduce the unit’s efficiency. Depending on the type of AC unit you have, it’s recommended to clean or replace the air filter every 3-6 months.

  • Check the coolant level. Coolant is the refrigerant that circulates through the air conditioner to cool the air. The coolant level should be checked annually, and if low, it should be refilled by a professional. Low coolant levels can lead to decreased efficiency and even cause the unit to stop working.

  • Clean the outdoor unit. The outdoor unit should be cleaned regularly to ensure that it operates efficiently. Dirt and debris can accumulate on the fins and other components, reducing the unit’s ability to transfer heat.

  • Check the condenser coil. The condenser coil dissipates heat from the refrigerant to the outside air. If the coil is dirty, it can reduce the efficiency of the air conditioner and cause it to work harder, leading to higher energy bills and a shorter lifespan. We can clean the condenser coil to ensure that it operates efficiently.

  • Secure the electrical connections. The electrical connections of the air conditioner should be checked regularly by a technician to ensure they are tight and secure.
